Madrid (Spain) / Immenstaad (Germany), 28 November 2023 – Sensor solution provider HENSOLDT announces a new product, the Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorder (CVFDR), at the European Rotors 2023 in Madrid. This new CVFDR will use the latest technology with the design focus on highest reliability and weight reduction and is characterised by new features and flexible application, for example higher flexibility as the software is field loadable and readout is possible without the need to power the aircraft.

Following the SferiRec LCR100 for smaller flying platforms, HENSOLDT is now also able to equip medium and large flying platforms with the CVFDR (certified to ED112A). The new device is much smaller in size then previous models, thanks to the compact design the weight is only 2.8kg / 6.17 lbs and makes it one of the lightest ED112A combined recorders on the market.  The HENSOLDT SferiRec CVFDR will be EASA ETSO certified.

"Our new CVFDR will use the latest technology with the design focus on highest reliability and weight reduction," says Steffen Kolditz, Head of the Business Unit Airborne Solutions at HENSOLDT. "The SferiRec CVFDR has a modular architecture in order to store at least 25 hours of audio, data link and flight data on an integrated crash protected memory module."

HENSOLDT has been developing and producing flight data recorders for military aircraft and helicopters for more than 35 years, including the Tornado combat aircraft, the P3C Orion maritime reconnaissance aircraft and helicopters ranging from the NH90 and "Tiger" to the UH-1D and CH-53. With the successful launch of the lightweight SferiRec LCR100 in cooperation with DOA- (Design Organisations Approvals) partners several STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates) are available such as Beechcraft King Air Series and Airbus Helicopter H135.
